We ended February strong at the ToolBank by participating in the Houston LGBTQIA+ Volunteer Fair. We were given our own table and signs to display the ToolBank’s initiative, and explain our mission for the Houston community. We had the pleasure of chatting with various charities that give support to the LGBTQIA+ Community, and those who just wanted to spread their own nonprofit’s vision and mission for the Houston community.
With over 15 different volunteer groups, each table at this fair had set up their table with treats and decorations highlightiner their mission for the Houston community.
Association for Family and Community Integrity shares their vision for a world where LGBTQ persons are accepted, loved, and nurtured by their families in a safe and supportive home. AFCI approaches teenage homelessness from a family systems perspective, recognizing that the best way to help is within the context of the family.
The Walk for Mental Health Awareness is a community-based event that helps raise awareness and funding for Greater Houston area non-profit agencies and programs that provide mental health services which create an environment for a positive public dialog.
Best Friends Animal Society
The mission of Best Friends Animal Society is to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets. They do that by helping to end the killing in America’s animal shelters through building community programs and partnerships all across the nation.
These volunteer fairs highlight collaboration and spread the word of nonprofits throughout the Houston community. We can’t wait to update the ToolBank’s volunteer table kit and expand our member agencies by connecting through these fairs and garnering more volunteers.
